All
materials are based on research on the law itself, court decisions, FTC
Statements and Letters of Interpretation, articles from professional collection
magazines, and actual experiences of collectors in real life collection
situations. The materials have been used by a number of law firms, agencies
and professional training organizations, and our feedback in the form
of Pre and Post Tests and Course Evaluations indicates they were very
helpful in increasing the participants’ understanding and knowledge
of FDCPA regulations.
Each Section of the FDCPA is divided into five sub-topics. They are:
Sub-Topic I: Legal Text of the FDCPA
Sub-Topic II: Things to Remember
Sub-Topic III: Case-in-Point
Sub-Topic IV: What Should the Collector Do?
Sub-Topic V: Do You Remember…?
The FDCPA Training Course has a manual for the Facilitator and a separate
manual for the Participant Training. This course incorporates the best
aspects of current adult education - that people learn best when they
are actively involved in the learning process and when they can apply
their new knowledge immediately to improve their job performance. Accordingly,
we have incorporated a variety of practical adult education methodologies
into this training module, including: group discussion, problem-solving
techniques, peer-helping techniques, and simulations of real life situations.
With these methods, we are able to build upon each participant’s
collection knowledge and experience from the novice to the experienced
collector and help each participant to become both a “teacher”
and a “learner” during this training.
Take a look at the following FDCPA Sample material dealing with Section
15 USC 1692a “Definitions” so you can see for yourself how
the content is worded in the training script and how the training for
one Section would be facilitated:
